Authentic Now
Your full authenticity is like your entire wardrobe.
You can never bring it into any one moment.
You chose that wardrobe to represent many facets of yourself, and if we looked at every outfit, we would see the full range of your authentic style.
But you can never wear your full wardrobe, you can only wear one outfit at a time.
If you put on every item in your wardrobe, that would just be another outfit.
If you showed up naked, that's another outfit.
Authenticity is far too often confused with impulsivity or full disclosure, but this is because the nuance of art and the sanctity of privacy are mysterious elements where our culture is concerned.
Authenticity is a form of art—raw material intentionally presented with skill, technique, precision, and vision.
Authenticity is a feature of integrity—that what I represent about myself is true and reliable, that I am internally consistent and that consistency is clear in my expression.
Being authentic does not mean being or bringing ALL that you are to any moment.
Authenticity means that you choose something true of you, something which fits this moment and lies within you to bring forth as an offering to the finite here and now.
The choice is part of the authenticity, the offering is part of the authenticity, and your reserve of all else within you is also a choice driven by authenticity.
