I'm Someone
Socialism is a social system we all have the opportunity to enact through leveraging the economic system of capitalism.
Waiting for the government to legislate care for my family and neighbors, complaining about capitalism, saying how things should be, all of these are activities I've done instead of being in this reality, instead of BEING what I think is right in the world.
Capitalism is a system of resources in which I claim an equal stake. I claim my right to prosper in this economic system.
My own sense of rightfulness in this claim on my participation in the economic system of capitalism is fueled by my commitment to socialism in my social system--that so long as I have resources, I can distribute them how I see fit to serve my own ideals in this world. I can pay out sick leave and insure auto-repairs. It is insanity to ask that anyone else do this. If I see what "someone" should do, I am the one.
Capitalism as an economic system allows me the freedom to select my energetic tone and approach. There is SO much freedom in capitalism, when I get out from under it and claim my space as a participant.
I can charge any amount for my work, I can give it away for free, and I have no one to justify this to. The tone of my service is mine. The energetics of transaction are optional even deeply within the economic system of capitalism.
Here's an example: A kid got in trouble for selling paninis outside his dorm rooms, because he doesn't have a food vendor license. So he started selling paper towels, and they each come with a free panini.
Transaction is a slippery thing in the best of times, something we breathe life into through our beliefs, assumptions, projections, and actions. Transaction is unnatural, a human construct birthed from the truth of symbiosis to mitigate the unfairness we are capable of perceiving with our limited perception of global symbiosis.
We get free of these systems not by destroying them or exiting them, but by leveraging them to serve a system for which we DO bear allegiance.
Eyes on the prize. What DO you want it to look like, and what is the Minimum Viable Product of that energy that you can bring to market here and now within your immediate locus of control? How can you claim your membership to any and every system you might leverage on behalf of this vision you're bringing to the world?
