Oxygen
At this point it's basically an adage—you need to put on your own oxygen mask before attempting to help another person.
But I love to ponder the next line in the airline safety spiel.
"Oxygen is flowing even if the bag does not inflate."
When you are saving your own life, when you are operating a functional baseline, there may be no discernible evidence of success.
It may even seem to be outright failing or not working. Why do we even HAVE this bag if it's not gonna fill up to show me air is flowing?
Remember, though, if you go on breathing, something is working.
Doing it right is no guarantee of comfort.
Belonging does not mean having a pleasant experience.
Thriving also sucks sometimes.
Oxygen is flowing, even if the bag does not inflate.
How do you know? You have enough breath to panic about it.
