Pressure
The surface is reviled by those who orbit just beneath it, within reach of the lines and nets.
They are in the shadows, not the darkness, the drowning, not the obliterating, integrating pressure.
Those who know the depths do not revile the surface. The depth includes the surface--if it didn't, it would be less deep.
Every layer above it is what makes it the depth. Rejecting any layer is a practice of shallowness, a senseless attempt to divide the ocean horizontally.
The horizontal division of the ocean is already a reality enforced by pressure.
When we see you trying to take layers off
we know you can't take the pressure.
