Rumination Ends Now
Rumination is compelling because our brains love continuity. We love to link how we are feeling now to the whole event-train of the past. We do this by asking why. Why? Why? We can ask forever and never run out of reasons.
Mindfulness ends rumination because it ends continuity. We set this moment adrift from all other moments in time and occupy it alone.
When there is only this moment, how I'm feeling is how I'm feeling. The reason I feel that way is that I'm feeling that way. The purpose is so that I can have that experience of right now.
