Sing the Tone
there is a difference between sounding the alarm and singing the tone
Each has a sacred purpose, perhaps a thousand sacred purposes, perhaps they all boil down to the same thing—getting back to love, being in love.
No, I don't mean love as an emotion, I mean love as the symphony crafted by your holistic experience of your life.
Singing the tone is not holding a note.
Singing the tone is not referring to one tone.
Singing the tone is an ongoing practice, which will consume your entire body and all of your resources. It changes moment to moment. It consumes you in service to you.
And you know it is over when you hear yourself sound the alarm.
The alarm is for you to heed. It will worsen in service to you, until you have no choice but to listen, but at that point you will call it surrender.
You will sing the tone with your barest inhales, hardly audible.
You will hear yourself sound the alarm and heed it when you do, adding to the symphony of your life experience.
You will return to sing the tone, each time with renewed commitment.
It's not righter, but it will make you feel righter with the world. It's the tone of resonating with reality, loving what is, receiving of what life is serving.
Sounding the alarm is a practice at war with reality, saying "not that!" rejecting what life appears to be forcing upon you. It is sacred! So sacred! Please listen when you hear it! Do not, by any means, try to let it be background noise, do not let it drone on.
The alarm is different from the tone. The alarm is the warning you have left the tone. YOU have left the tone.
No matter how good you are at sounding the alarm, please know it sounds only for you, to tell you where YOU belong. It is not meant to make anyone else listen or change. It is telling you where to walk.
Walk to where it's easy and obvious to sing the tone. Walk wherever that is, no matter what it looks like, walk where it is easy to resonate with reality, and walk until you find it.
Its flavors are here my love, right here and now. The baby you love the most in the world, the friend who is always so kind, the home so exquisitely tended you speak in a hushed voice. You can feel it when others are singing the tone, when the space sings the tone, where it's easy for you to sing the tone in resonance with the space and the company.
It all matters, and if you've only been sounding the alarm, it might look differently from how you've imagined.
Release your identity as "the one who will show them all." Know what you know and walk TOWARD your own love of your own damn life.
Let it look however it looks, this life is FOR YOU.
