when you deprioritize yourself you deprive your community
When you don't fix the thing that's only bothering you, you don't go over to borrow the wrench from your neighbor and interact with his kid, hold the door for his wife while her hands are full.
You don't hit up the gym with your buddy who has decided nobody cares about him, when you've decided nobody cares about you.
When you deprive yourself of the small joys, the cashier doesn't get the same smile out of you, the sparkle of your wit that breaks up the day, reminds them there are people here buying this merchandise.
When you skip that walk in the woods
a tree falls
without a sound.
One witness changes everything.
I love how you put this. So beautiful.
When I prioritize myself, I tend to stay home a lot, though, working on creative projects, and I don't show up for people in my community the way I would if I could have a handy clone that went to all the things and was a "better" friend/consumer, etc. I'm curious if you have any thoughts about this?
